SCIT hosted a meeting for the Orange County Biomedical Equipment Technology Society (OCBMET) on its campus on February 22, 2011. Various professionals working in the Biomedical Equipment field attended the event and discussed advances in the field. SCIT faculty and Biomedical Technology students attended the event as well. The goal of OCBMET is to elevate the biomedical engineering profession in the eyes of all health care professionals, and to provide an environment of partnership in health care excellence at various hospitals, clinics and corporate organizations. Nine SCIT biomed students have been selected to attend the MD Expo Event between March 24th and March 26th in Napa Valley. The MD Expo Event is the west coasts largest biomed event, showcasing vendor exhibits and educations seminars, and is supported by the California Medical Instrumentation Association (CMIA), the largest biomedical association on the West Coast. CMIA worked with five companies (Ampronix, Conquest, Unisyn, Omed, and Tenacore) to sponsor the nine SCIT students attendance at the event.
